In 1885 Albert Butz patented the furnace regulator and alarm. He eventually sold his business to W.R. Sweatt, and W.R. merged his business with Mark HONEYWELL, who was making water heater generators (since 1906) and in the grand ol' year of 1927, these two companies became one - The Minneapolis-HONEYWELL Regulator Co.
